Naboo Attack Lazer Tag System (circa 1999) |
Quite simply, they already happened. Back in the late 90s, Tiger Electronics released a few Star Wars themed sets compatible with their Lazer Tag-brand that was out at the time. While they are not directly compatible with any of the new Lazer Tag-brand gear that's out now (LTTO, LTX, LTAR), they can be used in special hosted settings with the LTTO Tag Master Blaster and LTTO Drone under the "WoW Mode". Still, they're neat looking blasters and I've been able to find a few pieces. Enough to make a review of it!
One of these pieces is also the core of a commission project for a friend across the pond as a wedding gift. I'm excited to work on it and turn this E-5 Battle Droid blaster (the bottom one pictured) into a fully functional LTX blaster. More details in the video below of this series of laser tag blasters.
Good to know you got the name of it right :P I would've gotten on you.
ReplyDeleteYou got 2 things wrong. That is Vader's life support device and Han Solo used a modified DL-44 blaster. Not a regular DL-44.
ReplyDeleteNerd! Of course I'm a nerd myself.
ReplyDeletealthough I'm not a big fan of star wars (to be honest I haven't even seen one episode)but I must admit I think they look the coolest laser tag blasters (that is unless you can challenge me zook!)
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to reshell one of the current Star Wars nerf blasters into a star wars laser tag gun. I think it would be a far more useful and almost a homage utilization since in the movies the guns shot lasers. Only nowadays you can't really see them haha.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME VIDEO! very informative and great to see you take on the star wars blaster. (some guy from the other side of the pond! cheers Sam)
ReplyDeleteHey Zook... these will not work with the TMB under WoW mode. They are not using the same signal as the WoW Lazer Tag.

I've got 18 of these guns that we just played with last night after having them sit in a box for the last 12 years (we scored an awesome clearance deal at ShopKo). They are great...with one caveat. As long as the player shoots continuously, the sensor is deactivated so they can't get tagged. We had to make rules that everyone had to pause between shots to allow the other players to tag their guns. It worked OK, but since you seem to be a bit of an electronics whiz, I was hoping that you would know how to construct a time delay of 4 or 5 seconds on the trigger circuit (or some other workaround). If I could do that, it would immeasurably improve the game. Thanks!
