Pyragon Internals!

Hadn't seen anyone really dig into the Pyragon's internals.  I was just curious about how it differed from the Praxis/Lumitron as far as the Slamfire function went and I was also interested to see if there was a reason for there being slightly more power behind the Pyragon's range than the other Torsion Spring Vortex blasters.

Turns out, this blaster has a bit of an upgrade...

Through much of my findings, I not only found similar parts in each blaster, but flat-on copies of the same parts.  From the trigger to the mag loading mechanism to the firing arm, it's all pretty much the same.  I was expecting more of a noticeable difference between them because of the Slamfire function, but there's hardly any internal layout differences.

A big difference that most of you will be happy about is the Torsion Spring.  It is clearly stronger than the kind seen in the Proton, Vigilon, Praxis, and Lumitron.  Also, the positions for the Torsion Spring mod that were present on the older models is still there, so even MORE power could be drawn from this blaster.  This Torsion Spring puts the Pyragon at the top of the range list for the Vortex Blasters and it's Slamfire capabilities means it can dish out disks faster than any other as well.  Those facts paired with the highest capacity drum magazine for the Vortex line make this fella a clear winner in my books when it comes to slinging disks.

Check out the walkthrough video I shot of the internals comparison between the Praxis and the Pyragon.

  1. Great vid and post zook! I will be getting one of these as the Praxis/Lumitron/Pyragon design has always been my favorite out of the vortex line

  2. After looking at it, do you think its possible for the priming handles for the pyragon and the praxis are interchangable? I DETEST the pyragon handle, and would rather go for a smaller handle that the praxis has.

  3. can you post internals of the drum itself? i haven't seen anyone posting one yet....

  4. If the internals are so similar do you see any problems transferring the internals of the pyragon into a Lumitron? I'm not a fan of the white or the fore grip, and the only thing I'm interested in is the drum & slam fire. Thx

  5. It surprises me how many people worry about looks before performance for their blasters!

  6. How do you take it apart? It seems that the halves are molded into the front sight.

  10. Have you done the torsion spring mod on the Pyragon yet? If so, how does it work? I've been looking into it but haven't found anybody that has said anything about it.

    1. The Torsion Spring Mod will work exactly like the Praxis, Lumitron, Vigilon, and Proton. I haven't done the mod myself, but it's pretty easy as long as you know how the others worked. Honestly, I'm getting more than enough stock range from my Pyragon, so I haven't bothered to mess with it.

  12. Hey, sorry to necro, but I tried opening up my Pyragon and the shell doesn't seem to want to open. All of the screws are removed, and the back end of the blaster opens a bit but the shell seems to be caught near the front sight. Did you encounter that at all?
