Hasbro Speaks Up

I'm starting to think that dart on his head
was fired by Hasbro.
Direct quote from their Nerf Nation Facebook Page regarding the flurry of attention the matter with Urban Taggers has been getting.

"We appreciate the opportunity to provide the following statement concerning Hasbro’s investigation into “leaked” IP information regarding its NERF brand products. As with anything, there are two sides to every story. While we cannot comment on the details of any ongoing investigation, Hasbro takes all circumstances of its stolen and leaked IP very seriously and will continue to investigate sources of unauthorized information and products as it relates to its brands. We would like to clarify one of the inaccuracies that has been reported. While a local Hasbro Australia marketing team did reach out to the Urban Taggers website to engage in promotional activity for which it required its address, it was completely unrelated to the confidential global investigation being conducted on Hasbro’s behalf by independent investigators looking into sources of leaked IP information. Hasbro greatly values and appreciates its fan communities and is very proud of its strong relationships with many bloggers and sites that cover our brands and products."

So... whatever THAT means. Your thoughts?

  1. One thing it means is that those promised pinpoint sights had better materialize pretty soon, or Hasbro gets caught in another lie.

  2. I think the NIC made enough noise to get a response, a lame response but lets keep it going, and someone please teach those lawyers how to use the internet, and get them a Rosetta Stone copy of how to speak chinese!

  3. Sounds a lot like WW2 to me (Hasbro being Germany).
Hasbro threw a punch, but ended up receiving two. Even if an agreement is reached, there's still the question of those 11 Pinpoint sights, which is now one of Pocket's liabilities. Hasbro really took Pocket (and the Nerfing Community) for granted.
I also must say, Pocket was pretty well-informed and pulled the right cards. Its certainly inspired me to put away my blasters until its sorted out. My words? Keep your grounds, its working!

  4. Hasbro didn't miss a beat on this one. Trying to nip the whole mess in the bud like they were reading from a textbook. Evoke the existence of law, proclaim they shall walk within its stretchy borders, and extend a hand of friendship. I doubt our community will receive any more direct conciliation from Hasbro beyond this attempt. Penance could take any number of forms, however, and there is a lot of rage left to express...

  5. Seems like Hasbro Australia wanted to do something with Taggers at some-point, But I dough pocket will want to respond to them anymore unless they contact him directly face to face. I'll say as a journalism student the firm group was in the right to some degrade because Pocket didn't post his sources, but the firm wasn't up front with him in what they wanted. So hopefully there was a lesson learned from both sides on Pockets in posting sources and on the firm for being upfront with what they want and not sending goons to knock down his door. Also Bazookafied I think you should stat sourcing your stuff to because the wording here sound like they may be looking at your blog to... potently

    1. Actually Uppercaseccc, you're wrong on this one- Pocket had every right to protect and not reveal his sources (my guess is that these laws came about because of the retaliation and intiidation whistleblowers into corruption we've been facing here).

You'll notice that when faced with a refusal to provide info, Hasbro didn't go to a judge to file a motion- they simply kept harrassing Pocket. That should tell you how highly they rated their chances of doing things the correct way.

In short, besides the initial posting of something unreleased (which Pocket took down the moment he was contacted about it), there really wasn't anything Pocket had done wrong here.

  6. So let me get this straight... Hasbro claim innocence for asking for Pockets' personal details, yet the moment he does, suddenly a law firm that allegedly has no link to the 'Hasbro Australia marketing team' knows EXACTLY where to find and contact him? I doubt Pocket is the kind of person to just hand out that kind of info. I call shenanigans.

  7. Sometimes Nerf just acts so dumb.
