N-Strike Elite RoughCut 2x4 Review

While initially it wasn't at the top of my "to get" list, the RoughCut 2x4 has really surprised me.  Great ranges, neat features, and it's smaller than I originally had anticipated.  It would be an excellent secondary on a sling in games or even as a primary if you're the run-and-gun type.  It's able to dish out all 8 of it's Elite Darts in less than 2 seconds, which is pretty brutal to go toe-to-toe with.

My short video review of it is after the jump!

  2. I'm having trouble with mine. It doesn't want to slam fire both darts out of the box. It will fire the right barrel if I wait a few seconds then squeeze certain parts of the trigger.

    1. There's only one "part" of the trigger to squeeze that I can think of. It is a dual-stage trigger, so if it's having issues with slamfire, there's an internal problem with it's setup.

    2. I guess I could crack it open to see if there's something wrong. Any ideas where I could start?

    3. When you say dual-staged trigger, do you mean a trigger like all the double barrel shotgun style dart guns seem to have? The games I play in, you have to keep track of the ammo that you use and, while I really like the aesthetics of a double barrel shotgun, I can't actually feel the break for firing one shot rather than two at once when I'm running around. I picked up two online hoping that you'd have to pump between each shot rather than worrying about how hard you pull the trigger and I could mod it so the gun only fired from two barrels. Does the trigger work like a Barrel Break, for instance? Also, any ideas for turning a barrel break into a gun with two triggers? I've had no luck on that one myself.

    4. This problem was also reported on our German board in two cases. So I put mine to the test and after some seconds of slam fire, I have the same problem. The Trigger won't launch the second shot on the same pull as the first. Only way is to completely push the Trigger a second time.
It's probably a problem with the gear slipping of the priming bar when slam firing. That results in the priming bar not returning to full forward position unless you force the priming grip to stay there.
A realignment of the internals proved successful for one who tried it. I have not tried it yet, will do a video with the problem.
Strange that this issue hasn't been documented before, since the RC is avaiable for some time in the US and Asia.

    5. So, here's my video. It's in German, but with English Captions. Not of much help I admit:

But just to show the error not many people had yet...

  3. Hey Zook,
Just a thought, if I did do a AR removal on this blaster would it fire all 8 darts at once? If so I think I will be making a Masterkey too.

  4. I have one of those, it is epic.
But it takes a while to reload.
I challenged my friend to a battle (he had a Hail-fire) to a battle and won, using one dart at a time. If you squeeze the trigger halfway, it shoots on at a time.

  5. I fixed the second shot not firing issue by spraying WD-80 liberally over the back end of the internals ie just forward of the trigger. Works perfectly now.
