Assimilate!
I didn't really realize it until someone pointed it out... but a lot of what I do for laser tag has become increasingly Borg-ish. Though it's not operational yet, I have plans to build a plug in a Laser Challenge-brand vest to accept the Battle Tag Sensor Harness so they can be used in LC games (This is a project I'll outline once I have more to share). You're already familiar with the LTX DMR, which is made up of a Nerf Stampede, Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix internals, a Laser Challenge Virtual Paintball Lens, and a Weaver Rail with a Red/Green dot sight mounted on it. With this setup alone, I have Hasbro, ToyMax, Jakks Pacific, Ubisoft, and CenterPoint equipment being utilized. Combining the best elements from these brands to achieve perfection... if I start saying things like "Resistance is Futile", I know I've got a real problem on my hands!
you've definitely got some serious adaptability happening. It's a good thing, coming up against an opponent like you, who has used the best parts of everything to kit out with must be pretty tough!
ReplyDeleteThere is equipment/features that could technically be "better". However, I choose equipment that best suits my style and personal preferences. I could easily put on a Radar Extreme Vest and take a V2 Firestorm and technically be the best, but that doesn't work for me. I'm always tweaking, always adjusting things, but I still get tagged out pretty often. It's not like I'm some God-mode unstoppable force cleaning house every time I play.
ReplyDeleteI've heard rumors of a new Lazer Tag system coming out this year. We've only just started to get into the Lazer Tag Phoenix LTXs and we've been hitting eBay up for more- was wondering if you reckon we should hold out and wait for this new line or just buy up now? Or consider Battle Tag/Light Strike?
ReplyDeletewell i suppose that's true, no one is invincible. but from my perspective as a newcomer to laser tag, seeing you on the opposite team would probably make me pretty nervous haha!
ReplyDeleteAnon: There are new Laser Tag systems, but none of the Lazer Tag-brand stuff that the LTX and LTTO blasters could be compatible with. A Lazer Tag-brand system that should be backwards compatible with LTX and LTTO won't be out for awhile.
ReplyDeleteQuite honestly, I'm not thrilled with what I've seen with Light Strike and have not seen any announcements of it's future release since I saw the commercial for it in February of this year. I have managed to get my hands on Battle Tag and, while it is a neat system, I do have my worries about it. One Battle Tag Starter Set is enough money to purchase TWO Nerf LTX sets. Also, if you play outdoors, the LTX outperforms the Battle Tag blasters by a long shot. Finally, the way this "Soft release" of Battle Tag has been going, I worry that it might tank. There has been little push for this system and it's been almost a year since it's release.
Looking ahead, I would expand your LTX collection and wait for the next Lazer Tag brand blaster to come out. You'll still be able to use them with it.
